Must Buy Ticket

FEARTICKET lets you require that a certain ticket is always included in an order. With a Must Buy rule, if someone buys a ticket, they must also buy another ticket you specify. This is useful when one ticket only makes sense alongside another, for example requiring a Child Admission ticket whenever a General Admission ticket is purchased.

In Tickets & Pricing, click on Rule Builder. Under the template list, find Must Buy Ticket and click Use this rule, as shown in the image below.

What Happens When You Open This Rule

Must Buy works a little differently from the pricing rules. Instead of asking you to build a condition, the When these conditions are met section simply shows a note that reads Conditions not required, because Must Buy rules apply to every order automatically. There is nothing to configure there. At the top you can still name the rule, and there is a checkbox for Stop processing further rules if this matches if you don't want other rules to run once this one applies.

    The Must Buy rule opens with no conditions to set, since it applies to all orders automatically.

Setting the Action

Everything for this rule lives in the Then do this section. The Action type is already set to Must buy for you. Next to it, choose an Operator: Is checks for a single required ticket, while Any of lets you require one out of several tickets.

Then use the Ticket(s) dropdown to pick which ticket the buyer is required to purchase. This is the ticket that will be forced into the order.

Reading the Preview Before You Save

FEARTICKET writes a plain English summary of the rule right above the Save button, and it updates automatically as you make your selections. For a basic Must Buy rule it would read:

Buyer must purchase a (ticket).

Once the preview matches what you intended, click Save.

Example

If someone buys a General Admission ticket, they must also buy a Child Admission ticket. Once this rule is saved, a Child Admission ticket is required in any order that includes General Admission, so a buyer can't check out with General Admission on its own.

Note: Must Buy rules apply to all orders automatically and don't use conditions. The only thing you set is which ticket must be purchased.
